A European partner for industry

VINCI Energies works extensively with European industry, combining strong roots in its local markets with multi-site solutions to assist industrial customers in optimising their plant and equipment.

These solutions are provided primarily through the two network brands :

  • Actemium, specialising in engineering and implementation, brings together over 100 business units in 12 countries.
  • Opteor, the VINCI Energies brand dedicated to maintenance.

The Group’s business units are acknowledged for their expertise in continuous industrial processes, which they notably provide for their customers in the oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and water treatment industries. They also have expertise in the manufacturing processes used to produce consumer goods and automobiles, for example.

A satisfactory level of activity in 2009

While the production of most European industries declined, VINCI Energies’ historic business lines, such as agro-industry, oil and gas infrastructures and the production of electrical energy, experienced significant growth in 2009. This allowed the Group to maintain its industrial activity at a satisfactory level. The VINCI Energies model, based on the functioning of its business units in a network, has also contributed to this result. It allows them to work alongside each other and to mobilise for new projects. This proximity to clients enhances their responsiveness and capacity to adapt to the market.

Promising markets open up new paths to growth

Some industrial sectors, like fine chemistry and energy production, are major vectors for growth, because investments have been maintained in these sectors. In healthcare, Actemium worked on the new GSK Biologicals site at Saint Amand les Eaux, which freeze-dries, fills and packages vaccines. Several tasks were involved: installation of the high current networks for process machinery, power distribution for lighting and sockets, rollout of the plant’s IT network and installation of an automated airlock management system.

In Europe, the adaptation of classic energy production facilities such as thermal power plants to the new environmental norms also represents a promising market for the VINCI Energies business units. The group is also continuing its involvement in the development of the photovoltaic sector.
