Building Information Modelling (BIM) becomes FM-compatible

VINCI Facilities circulated its "Statement of Work and technical specifications for Building Information Modelling" at the BIM World exhibition, which took place on 6 and 7 April 2016 at Paris La Défense.

BIM Thanks to this Statement of Work, entitled "BIM for Facility Management" and geared towards stakeholders involved in building design, project management and construction, BIM is now FM-compatible.

Enriched with FM-specific data, information on expected measured values for checks, and a record of supplier contracts and contacts, this is a real digital modelling system for building operation (or BIM for FM), facilitating corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance.

In future, at the click of a mouse, the FM digital modelling system will provide access to all standard Facility Management tools like BMS (building management system), CMMS (computerised maintenance management system) and a services portal.

This vision of an FM-compatible BIM system was initiated on the Hélios campus in Vélizy-Villacoublay (Paris region) by VINCI Facilities as part of the "BIM FM Lab", set up with Thales and involving Foncière des Régions (building owner) and VINCI Construction France (general contractor).
