In Belgium, Fonds VINCI, an offshoot of Fondation VINCI pour la Cité, supports projects run by non-profit associations that are sponsored by Group employees. In this context, VINCI Facilities organised an event on 12 September to raise funds for the Racynes association.
As every year, VINCI Facilities in Belgium set up a fundraising initiative for a non-profit association as part of the Fonds VINCI programme. Racynes, sponsored by Ludovic Dervin, a service engineer at VINCI Energies in Liège, was selected. The association promotes social inclusion, through projects that serve the community, and the redefinition of life goals. It offers people suffering from social exclusion a range of occupations organised in the activity farm it manages. As part of its street outreach work, it assists young people and their families who find themselves in extremely vulnerable situations by tackling school dropout, providing social support and helping to manage a budget/housing, etc. It is also developing an experimental project involving 6 "stepping stone" housing units, intended to accommodate vulnerable people.
On 12 September, VINCI Facilities organised 3 bike trips (140, 70 and 30km) and a 10km walk near Waregem. The cyclists, employees and their families set off from Gosselies and headed for Waregem via Lessines.
Following this, VINCI Facilities converted the kilometres covered into euros, thus raising €2,500 to help create a "social" launderette and an emergency apartment for large families.
