VINCI Energies at the 22nd National Public Transportation Conference.

2009-11-24 : VINCI Energies at the 22nd National Public Transportation Conference.
VINCI Energies business units involved in public transportation were present at the 22nd National Public Transportation Conference from November 25 to 28, 2009 at the Acropolis of Nice.

This was an opportunity for Actemium Rueil, GTIE Transport, LEE Conseil, Roiret Transport, Santerne Marseille, and SDEL Contrôle Commande in particular to present their expertise in the urban public transportation sector which, in addition to standard tramway or metro projects, includes more recent intermediary systems such as trolleybuses, High Service Level Buses (HSLB) and tram-train systems.

Urban mobility is an acknowledged priority of the Government and local authorities: cities are saturated with cars and the environmental stakes are more and more crucial. A call for proposals was launched in October within the framework of the Grenelle de l’Environnement: more than 50 reserved lane public transportation projects will be undertaken between now and the end of 2010. In all, 215 km of tramways and 150 km of HSLB will come into service in the coming years.

Local authorities are also very interested in developing intermodality between their public transportation systems and making sure that they interlink as fluidly and practically as possible. In the most thorough examples, this involves joint organization of trains, tramways, local and long-distance buses, bicycles, drop-off points, long-term parking lots, and taxis, all of which are available to users from a station, acting as a hub for intermodality.
The implementation of technical solutions to allow users to define an optimized itinerary for each trip is a necessary condition for this type of system, accompanied by the development of appropriate multi-channel information tools: internet, mobile applications, interactive terminals, and soon virtual ticketing on mobile telephones, etc.

VINCI Energies, with thirty years of experience in the public transportation sector, has an excellent knowledge of the problematics of this market. The Group draws on the expertise of its network of business units in electricity, communications networks and information systems.

The 22nd National Public Transportation Conference was an excellent forum for the Group’s business units to highlight their flagship projects, involving tramways in particular, in cities such as Lyons, Le Mans, Montpellier, Saint-Etienne, Nantes and Paris.
