Synerail starts operating GSM-Rail
2011-03-15 : Synerail starts operating GSM-Rail
On 4 March, Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) transferred the operation of the first 500 GSM-Rail sites to Synerail Exploitation, a 40%-owned subsidiary.

Operation and maintenance of these sites, built by RFF and covering 3,000 km of track in the north-east of France, was until then supplied by the SNCF.

This is the first phase of the implementation of the first French railway PPP.
Awarded in February 2010 to Synerail, a company owned by VINCI (30%), SFR (30%), AXA (30%) and TDF (10%), it covers the financing, construction, operation and maintenance for 15 years of a digital telecommunication network that will be gradually rolled out, between now and 2015, over 14,000 km of high-traffic-density railway lines.
