The VINCI Foundation: a framework to foster commitment on the part of company employees

reve.jpgThe purpose of the VINCI Corporate Foundation for the City, founded in 2002, is to act against all forms of exclusion everywhere the VINCI Group operates.

Over and above the financial aid provided by the Foundation, the employees of Group companies place their skills at the service of the projects receiving support in order to assist them on a long-term basis. This individual involvement enhances the embedding of Group companies in programmes with a social goal.

The VINCI Foundation acts in two fields:

  • Access to employment: organisations promoting the integration into the world of work of individuals in situations of exclusion, providing basic training or the means for mobility to seek employment,
  • Community living: organisations working in difficult neighbourhoods with the aim of raising the awareness of young people to civic responsibility, reintegrating into social life those who are most isolated, and allowing the most impoverished to gain access to decent housing.

Open air detention

The "Avenir" (Future) Association works in job placement for prisoners who are coming to the end of their prison terms. About one hundred prisoners per year are housed by the association during the week for a program in Riom, Auvergne, to help them to return to employment. This program includes technical training in trades involving green spaces and masonry, as well as refresher courses in basic knowledge. The instructors help the trainees resolve their social difficulties and offer them sports and cultural activities. The VINCI foundation supported this action through the purchase of two transportation vehicles for the trainees. Within the Electrique Sud Business Unit, the 2 sponsors, Jean-Michel de Ribier, business unit manager and Sylvain Ouvry, project manager, help the association in seeking internships and jobs for the trainees, and provide advice and tools for the safety at the Avenir work sites.
