Being innovative in using buildings with BIM FM
BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a tool that facilitates collaboration between the parties involved with a building. With BIM FM, VINCI Facilities offers a new way of operating buildings.
What is BIM?
BIM (Building Information Modelling) was initially used in industry and is now more and more frequently used in the phases of design and construction of buildings. This digital modelling of a building facilitates the entry, collection, synthesis and sharing of data between the various parties involved in the project.
And what about BIM FM?
BIM is now being applied to facility management: the digital model of the building is enriched with information to facilitate its operation.
How does this work concretely?
BIM helps to optimize facility management. In the case of a water leak for example, it makes it possible to view the pump involved, to consult the manual and the diagrams, to visualize the various components and the history of the management of the facilities to know what repairs were done previously.
What are the advantages of BIM FM?
For David Ernest, Innovation & Energy Director of VINCI Facilities : "Tomorrow BIM FM will be at the core of the operator's information systems. Interfaced with the existing business tools (CAMM* and BMS**), it will increase operational efficacy and offer new services to clients in fields as diverse as the taking into account of the life cycle of facilities and the optimization of the management of spaces."
The first benefits of BIM FM are already perceptible. It:
- facilitates the transfer of data concerning the building from the builder to the occupants and the operator,
- helps the maintenance technician to precisely localize facilities and gives him access to his technical sheet with 3D visualization. It saves time when seeking information and makes it possible to intervene more quickly, more efficiently and with greater safety.
- gives the owner a real-time vision of the facilities, updated by the operator.
BIM used for the first time in Facility Management
VINCI Facilities, the VINCI Energies brand dedicated to facility management and technical maintenance, will operate a building using BIM for the first time in France.
The Hélios site, designed by the Real Estate Department of Thales, will benefit from this new management mode. This new 49,000 m2 campus located in Vélizy-Villacoublay was delivered on October 20. It welcomes 2,400 people who were formerly scattered across several sites in the Paris Region.
