DataCity: a chance to invent the city of tomorrow!
VINCI Energies is taking part in DataCity, an open acceleration programme on Smart Cities launched in November 2015, which aims to bring together industrial partners, public players and project initiators to address the issues facing the city of today.
DataCity has set itself the goal of solving the problems of the modern city using data. The programme is the first of its kind due to the diverse range of stakeholders involved. The City of Paris, which is driving the programme, and a group of partners comprising VINCI Energies, Setec, SUEZ Consulting, Nexity and Cisco, backed by the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance's Directorate General for Enterprise, are taking part in this open acceleration programme with NUMA, a start-up incubator.
As a first step, two meetings were organised in December 2015 in order to identify the challenges involved in designing the city of tomorrow. All Smart Cities stakeholders were invited to attend the meetings which focused on four topics: Energy and Utilities, Environment, Mobility and Buildings, and Public Spaces.
Project initiators now have until 31 January 2016 to apply to be one of five projects selected for the first round of the programme. Two meetings are scheduled to take place with the programme partners on 13 and 27 January 2016 at NUMA to answer questions about the 9 challenges that make up the call for projects, and about the application process, selection and two weeks of acceleration.
Finally, in March 2016, the five successful applicants will take part in an acceleration phase at NUMA and in the field (Stade de France stadium, Place de la Nation, district town halls, public facilities, etc.) together with the programme partners, so as to test their solutions under real conditions.
DataCity will end in May with a DemoDay, when the project initiators and programme partners will present the work they have completed and the follow-up to their tests.
