GRAVES - for more efficient French space surveillance and tracking
The French Defence Procurement Agency has just signed an agreement with ONERA and DEGREANE HORIZON to upgrade the GRAVES radar space surveillance system.
This unique system in Europe enables the French Air Force to track and catalogue satellites with low Earth orbits of up to 1,000 km. The contract will not only extend the life cycle of the system up to 2030 but also improve performance.
ONERA will be in charge of modernising and upgrading the reception station and processing centre as well as maintaining and eventually upgrading the system. DEGREANE HORIZON, a subsidiary of VINCI Energies, will be responsible for modernising the transmission station.
The new contract builds on ongoing collaboration between ONERA and DEGREANE HORIZON initiated in 2003.
