Inauguration of the Tangier-Casablanca high-speed railway line

Africa's first high-speed railway line, in Morocco, was inaugurated on 15 November 2018 by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The 200 km railway line will reduce the travel time between Tangier and Casablanca from 4 hours and 45 minutes to 2 hours and 10 minutes. Morocco undertook the project to accommodate growing passenger numbers, decongest rail traffic between Tangier and Casablanca and support the development of the Tangier economic hub.

VINCI Energies subsidiaries Mobility and VINCI Energies in Morocco, in a consortium with Systra, realised the design and construction of electrical substations and units along the line, and for special operational safety engineering services.
