VINCI Energies has signed a framework contract with international energy supplier E.ON to strengthen the Swedish power grid and make it more weather-resilient and reliable during the winter months in order to reduce power outages. The €65 million (SEK 700 million) contract covers the period 2020-2023 with an optional two-year extension.

The works will consist in burying and securing the grid, replacing overhead with underground power lines – expertise provided by Omexom, brand of VINCI Energies dedicated to energy transition. The project will boost security of supply and expand access to sustainable energy. The new contract extends the longstanding collaboration between E.ON and VINCI Energies in building and maintaining transformer substations and power lines in Sweden.

Julio de Almeida, Managing Director of VINCI Energies (Europe West), says, “this new success enables us to maintain and reinforce our strong position in the power distribution grid market in Sweden. It is a good illustration of our long-term expansion strategy in the Scandinavian region. We are looking forward to continuing and further strengthening our excellent partnership with E.ON.”
