VINCI Energies wins a smart lighting contract in Auckland, New Zealand
VINCI Energies, a leading provider of energy and information technology services, has won a contract to operate, maintain and upgrade the northern and western areas of the Greater Auckland (population 1.5 million) urban lighting system in New Zealand. The four-year, €14.4 million contract will be implemented by Electrix, the VINCI Energies business in New Zealand.
The contract covers maintenance of the network comprising 37,000 light points and its transition to a low-energy connected smart lighting system. The technology meets two of the City of Auckland’s key goals – optimisation of energy spending and improvement of the urban environment. About 9,000 light points will be replaced with LEDs equipped with a radio communication based remote management system.
VINCI Energies won the contract based on synergies between the comprehensive contract experience provided by Electrix and the expertise provided by Citeos, the VINCI Energies urban lighting and equipment brand. Citeos’ expertise, exemplified by two recent smart lighting networks in Chartres and Cergy Pontoise, France, lent credibility to the VINCI Energies bid selected by the City of Auckland.
