A new abattoir for a more sustainable short loop  

A customer in Brittany decided to modernise its multi-species abattoir with a refrigeration solution from UBBAK.

An ageing abattoir on the coast of Brittany has been replaced with a modern refrigerated installation designed for lower consumption and improved energy performance, along with a reduction in noise pollution. 

The solution integrated by UBBAK includes: 

  • Monoblock refrigeration unit rated at less than 220 kW feeding 21 positive-cold rooms (MPG -8/-4 °C). 
  • Heat recovery of 232 kW, used to de-ice equipment, heat air and preheat hot water via a glycol/water system. 
  • Full 3D modelling to BIM standard to ensure precision control of the work. 
  • Automated control system for optimal control and simplified annual maintenance. 

This new abattoir can reach a production rate of 5,000 tonnes of meat a year, with significant energy savings thanks to an average coefficient of performance of 2.3.
