A step closer to escaping exclusion

The VINCI Foundation in Germany supports the Leben im Abseits association, which has been working in Hamburg since 2017 to help homeless people find their place in society.

Since 2017, the non-profit association Leben im Abseits eV [lit. “Living Apart”] has been working to raise institutional and public awareness of the realities of homelessness in Hamburg and the surrounding region. With its project known as Der Schritt Vorwärts – ein Weg aus dem Abseits [literally “The step forward – a way out of exclusion”], the association provides temporary individual accommodation at the Schanzenstern Hotel in the Altona district. These secure and stable surroundings enable homeless people to recover their peace of mind and gradually rebuild their lives. With support from social workers, the association’s clients also have the possibility of making concrete plans, such as finding permanent accommodation following their stay in the hotel.

The VINCI Foundation in Germany is currently supporting these temporary individual accommodation places with a donation of €20,000. G+H employees Stefan Buchholz and Sasa Cetina are also supporting the project as sponsors for the association.
