On 22 February, 23 of our collaborators took part in Vasaloppet, one of the world’s toughest cross-country ski races, raising money for UNICEF* along the way.
Created in 1922 in Sweden, Vasaloppet is the world’s oldest cross-country ski race. Its route takes inspiration from the 16th-century saga of King Gustav Vasa, who is said to have skied across the region fleeing his pursuers.
Every year, more than 60,000 participants attempt one of the race’s flagship distances (30, 45 or 90 km) through the snow-covered Swedish landscape between Sälen et Mora.
This year, 23 VINCI Energies collaborators took part in the event wearing charity bibs, sponsored by their business units, to raise funds for UNICEF. Their target was to raise enough to meet the educational needs of 60 children.
This initiative is part of a wider partnership with UNICEF. Since 2022, VINCI Energies has been supporting UNICEF by financing projects in Benin, Brazil and East Timor that provide access to a data connection and online learning for more than 20,000 students aged between 6 and 18. These three projects offer hybrid teaching via digital technologies alongside more traditional forms of education.
