In an event organised by VINCI in partnership with the Elles bougent association, Omexom RE Solar welcomed 10 female high-school students from Lycée Professionnel et Technologique Château Blanc in north-central France.
The aim of the Elles bougent association is to attract young women, especially school and university students, into science, technology and engineering careers and the related sectors. The partnership between VINCI and the association made it possible for 10 young women from Lycée Professionnel et Technologique Château Blanc in Châlette-sur-Loing to discover first-hand the career possibilities in the field of renewable energies. They enjoyed a hands-on immersive experience of the Omexom teams’ technical activities and expertise.
Eloïse Prouveur, Project Manager at Omexom RE Solar and the association’s sponsor, organised this experience. In her words, “It’s essential to encourage young women in the scientific sectors, which are still rather male-dominated. A diverse range of profiles is a great asset for businesses: it promotes collective performance and synergies between different points of view.”
The initiative was also made possible by Laurent Rabillon, a teacher at Lycée Professionnel et Technologique Château Blanc, who connected with Eloïse to get his students involved. “These initiatives enable students to imagine themselves in careers they might otherwise never have considered. It’s important for these young women to realise that every avenue is open to them and not let stereotypes hold them back.”
More than just a visit, their day out was a real eye-opener for some of the participants. Site supervisor, design engineer and project manager were just some of the career prospects that came up during the discussions and practical demonstrations.
