New energy infrastructure for the Port Terminal of São Luís

Actemium in Brazil has constructed a 13.8 kV overhead power supply network for the VLI-owned Port Terminal of São Luís, located in Brazil, close to the Port of Itaqui.

The Port Terminal of São Luís plays a strategic role in exports of soya, maize, manganese and scrap metal sourced from the central North Region of Brazil. Actemium was assigned the project to deploy a compact three-phase electrical line 1,850 metres long.

The line is supported by concrete masts and galvanised cable ducts robust and durable enough for a demanding port environment. The Actemium teams were responsible for the entire project, from detailed engineering design to commissioning, including:

  • Provision of all infrastructure
  • Installation of EPR-insulated aluminium and copper cables
  • Installation of masts and metal structures
  • Connections to the Vale and VLI substations

This completed project ensures the safe and reliable distribution of electricity to the entire Port Terminal of São Luís.
