Cegelec Belgium contributed as part of a consortium to various technical batches in construction of the new hospital in Charleroi.
Cegelec Belgium played a key role in construction of the new site for the Grand Hôpital de Charleroi (GHdC), one of the largest hospital projects undertaken in Wallonia in the past 20 years. This huge hospital complex, named Les Viviers, now hosts almost all the activities previously spread across the hospital group’s five former sites. It boasts 960 beds and 27 operating theatres across a total floor area of 154,000 sq. metres.
As part of the consortium, Cegelec Belgium worked on several technical batches: heating, ventilation and climate control (HVAC); sanitary installations; electrical systems; and clean rooms. Thanks to the commitment of their personnel combined with meticulous organisation, the Cegelec teams were well able to meet the challenging requirements of this complex construction project. “For every technical batch, we assigned an experienced delivery team of engineers and site personnel, overseen by a project manager specialising in hospital projects,” explains Benoit Gouverneur, Business Development Manager at Cegelec Belgium.
To optimise its services and maximise its responsiveness, Cegelec Belgium established a monthly project review process and contractor remuneration based on project duration. In addition, a BIM team specialising in hospital environments was mobilised to ensure coordination between all the technical batches.
