Social links through music

The Cottbuser Musikspatzen e.V. association is making music a lever for inclusion and social cohesion. With support from the VINCI-Stiftung, it is setting up a project to provide access to musical education for all.

In Cottbus, Germany, the Cottbuser Musikspatzen e.V. association works to promote music, culture and living well together. Catering to the widest possible range of needs, it is creating intergenerational meeting spaces and encouraging social cohesion through collective music-making.

The VINCI-Stiftung (VINCI Foundation in Germany) is supporting the initiative to the tune of around €10,000.  This financial backing is key to rolling out the “Supportive City – Musical Integration” project, which will facilitate access to musical education for children from the age of eight years, irrespective of their family financial situation.

The programme enables these young people to learn an instrument and to take part in regular group rehearsals and performances. These experiences will contribute to their artistic development and boost their self-confidence. The programme also includes a shared music course to promote team spirit and help develop social skills.

The association also benefits from the commitment of its sponsor, Jörg Lebius from Actemium Germany, who helps enhance its visibility through press relations and communication campaigns.
