Construction and maintenance of two solar farms in Ireland

VINCI Energies, through its Omexom teams, has been awarded two turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts by Neoen for the Garr and Johnstown North solar farms in the Republic of Ireland.

These contracts are complemented by 20-year Operations and Maintenance (O&M) agreements.

For these two solar farms, Omexom’s teams will be responsible for detailed design and engineering studies, administrative and grid compliance procedures, equipment procurement, civil, mechanical and electrical works, as well as the commissioning of the facilities.

The two projects were awarded under the Republic of Ireland’s fourth Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS 4) auction. They will contribute to the expansion of renewable electricity generation in Ireland.

Located in County Offaly, in the centre of the country, the Garr Solar Farm will have a capacity of 162 MWp. As Neoen’s first project in the county, it will rank among the largest photovoltaic plants in Ireland. Its generation output will be sufficient to supply electricity to more than 38,000 households and avoid the emission of over 51,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. Commissioning is scheduled for 2029.

The Johnstown North Solar Farm, with a capacity of 33 MWp, will be located in County Wicklow, on the east coast of Ireland, approximately 70 kilometres south of Dublin. It will be the third photovoltaic plant delivered by Omexom’s teams in this county. The facility is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 8,000 households and avoid the emission of more than 10,500 tonnes of CO₂ annually. Construction works will continue until March 2028.

Once commissioned, Omexom, the energy infrastructure brand of VINCI Energies, will provide preventive and corrective operation and maintenance services for the facilities, as well as for the private sections of the grid connection infrastructure, for a period of 20 years.

These two contracts demonstrate Omexom’s expertise in the design, delivery and operation of renewable energy generation infrastructure. They strengthen VINCI Energies’ presence in Ireland and contribute to the country’s energy transition objectives.
