A learning farm to promote inclusion

The VINCI Foundation NL is supporting an education project being developed in the Netherlands by De Goudse Hofsteden learning farm. Thanks to the involvement of an Axians employee, new interactive screens will soon be available to help visitors learn more about biodiversity and sustainable development issues.

The Stichting Kinderboerderij De Goudse Hofsteden foundation in Gouda is a place for nature-based social interaction and learning founded in 1974. Every year, tens of thousands of visitors of all ages come to the 1.3-hectare site to take part in a range of educational activities.

To enhance its impact in raising environmental awareness, the association decided to transform its bee garden into a full-blown educational space. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the essential role played by bees, butterflies and other pollinators in maintaining ecosystems and biodiversity.

The initiative was made possible through the involvement of Sander Vielvoije, a connectivity engineer at Axians and volunteer at the learning farm. Having discovered the VINCI Foundation NL during a VINCI Energies integration day, he and the farm’s managers began to explore projects that might match the foundation’s objectives.

The financial support provided by the VINCI Foundation NL allowed them to source two interactive screens, which will take pride of place in the future learning space. Visitors will be able to use them to browse educational content, play games, and learn more about biodiversity, sustainable development and the site’s history.
