VINCI para a Cidadania supports the Castelo Branco Children’s and Youth Centre

VINCI para a Cidadania in Portugal has formalised the presentation of a donation to the CIJE - Casa da Infância Juventude / House for Children and Youth.

CIJE is a Portuguese charity created in 1886 to help orphans. Today, CIJE takes in children aged between 3 and 18, providing them with a home – kitchen, living room, bedrooms, sanitary facilities – and psychosocial support. With a view to their sustainable integration into working life, a semi-autonomous group of four young people help with shopping, preparing meals and managing daily tasks.

The grant from the VINCI Foundation will enable the CIJE to renovate one of the spaces in the reception center where some 60 children live in Castelo Branco.

We want this to be a house of dreams and a house of affection,” says Graça Frade, president of the CIJE board of directors.

The CIJE gives all the necessary tools to the children so that they learn to think, to live in society, to do activities, through a dedicated pedagogy”, adds Pedro Alfonso, Director of VINCI Energies in Portugal.

VINCI Para A Cidad is the result of a joint commitment by VINCI Airports, VINCI Energies Portugal and the VINCI Foundation for the City to contribute to the progress and development of local communities in an inclusive and sustainable manner. The foundation is involved both financially and in skills sponsorship, thanks to the sponsorship of our employees involved in the projects supported.
