Expanding e-Mobility in Dortmund

Several VINCI Energies business units are involved in a project to electrify the DSW21 bus fleet in Dortmund.

Initiated by transport company Dortmunder Stadtwerke AG (DSW21), the “Electric driver” project will enable many more passengers to benefit from e-Mobility thanks to the commissioning of 30 electric buses. The buses will serve interconnected lines 470, 440 and 437, crossing the city from Mengede to Sölde, and should start operating in March 2023.

The project, which is being run by Solaris, Ekoenergetyka and Omexom Frankenluk, involves several VINCI Energies business units:

  • Omexom Frankenluk has delivered five substation with thirteen 1250KVA transformers to set up the power supply for the new charging infrastructure and to power the electric buses. A distinctive feature of the project is that the largest station, with four 1250kVA transformers, is placed in a white tank in the ground.
  • Actemium Energy Projects, located in Dortmund, delivers the medium voltage switchgears with installation and commissioning.
  • Omexom Cologne is carrying out the 10kV wiring.
  • Ing3E is responsible for planning the power supply systems and the whole civil engineering and charging infrastructure.
