Refrigeration systems to be upgraded at Super U supermarket in Port-Marly

Eleven years after it was set up, the Super U supermarket in Port-Marly has confirmed its confidence in IDF Thermic Froid by appointing the company to replace its energy-intensive and overly-polluting refrigeration systems.

IDF Thermic Froid handled the design, engineering and installation of an efficient low-carbon system for the Super U supermarket in Port-Marly (in the Yvelines department to the west of Paris), while at the same time managing issues surrounding complex scheduling, simultaneous operations and a shortage of equipment.

IDF Thermic Froid teams installed a refrigeration and deep-freeze system for the sales area, and the cold rooms use an ejector-based transcritical CO2 system, a first in Greater Paris for the Système U retailer.

This low-carbon technological solution was optimised by installing equipment such as:

  • variable speed drive compressors to ensure gradual start-up;
  • electronically commutated motors for all display cases and gas coolers;
  • a parallel compression system to optimise performance in the summer;
  • a vapour/liquid ejector system to supply the refrigeration units at -1°C instead of -10°C;
  • a centralised management system for all data to monitor energy deviations 24/7.
